David Self is a native Texan who has recently returned to the Austin area.  From an itinerant family of community college and high school teachers, he broke with family tradition and went rogue after graduating from Stanford in 1992.  While living at home sponging off his too-generous parents, he attended UCLA Extension and spent most of his waking hours trying to break into Hollywood.  In 1994 he found success and was hired to write his first feature for Touchstone Pictures.  He linked up with his agency, UTA, shortly thereafter and has since written on numerous feature films in both credited and uncredited capacities.  His credits include ROAD TO PERDITION and THIRTEEN DAYS.  His most recent feature film, currently untitled, begins production in September 2021 starring Anthony Mackie.  At present he is developing a TV series for streaming service.
