Dailyn Rodriguez was born in the Washington Heights neighborhood of New York City to Cuban parents. Her high school drama teacher introduced her to the theater and encouraged her to write plays as a means to express herself and explore her unconventional upbringing. This led to Samuel French publishing her high school one-act plays in a collection entitled, Throwing off the Covers. She attended New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts where she earned a BFA in Dramatic Writing and received the John Golden Award in Playwriting. In 2001 she participated in The Walt Disney Studios Writing Fellowship. Some of her TV writing credits include: George LopezUgly BettyCaneLie to MeThe GladesThe Night Shift. She has been nominated for two Alma Awards and received a Writer’s Guild Award for Outstanding New Series (Ugly Betty). She is currently the Executive Producer and Co-Showrunner of Queen of the South. Dailyn lives in Los Angeles with her artist husband and two of the cutest dogs on the world.
