Writer-Producer

I'm an Afro-Latina-Mississippi Choctaw WGA chick. Being one race makes you marketable these days. Being three means you're ignored. (smile) But, I survived the murder of my older teenage brother and years later illegally jumping a ferry from London to France to meet famed writer James Baldwin. So, I guess I'll survive this new version of Blaxploitation. in my past life, I was a journalist for AP, CBS News on West 57th, The Boston Globe and my favorite The Cape Cod Times. Where else but Cape Cod can one leave work, walk out in the ocean until the water nearly covers your head, and walk up upon your own private island? Then the military at Ft. Bragg for several years. Then wrote-produced five docs for Discovery Channel. Next, unit publicity for five features. For producers who say they want writers who know the set, the unit publicist position is the only job that requires one to be on set asking questions all day. And it pays a lot. Then wrote scripts. Worked on a few series. Sold some features. Why relentlessly single? Because seeing what the murder of your brother does to you parents doesn't encourage one to have children. But, it does inspire one to make the most of one's time on earlh. Like when I got laid off, talked a Delta employee into giving me a $25 buddy pass, flew to Bahia, and stayed for three months with a sociologist who I met at an outdoor festival. So, everything above is what makes me a great writer who knows stuff while other writers just know contacts. I've worked as a staff writer on some series. I have optioned the rights to a great real story that will change what all Americans think they know about court cases that changed history (must have latino male, Latino female, and white male leads). And I have an edgy hourlong drama. I'm no longer the young, nothing writer that producers love to hire because...well, let's not go there. I'm the talented middle-aged writer with grat scripts and 2,000 media contacts from my past life who would just love to help promote my projects. You've heard the phrase I Come Prepared. I'm all that in triplicate. Don't hate me because I'm Boston blunt. Believe me, you will benefit from it. Oh yeah, for you degree people, Brown BA in Latin American Studies, Mizzou MA in journalism (one of top three programs in the country), 2007 NYU MFA Tisch School of the Arts, Northfield Mt. Hermon High School.
