Writer/producer Paul Alvarado-Dykstra co-founded Fantastic Fest, the largest genre film festival in the US. He is currently developing several film and television projects such as MadScrap, an animated “junkpunk” adventure series for Qwaxza that he represented at Banff and Kidscreen this year.

He recently served as VP of Content and Marketing for New Sky Pictures, overseeing development and production for New Sky Kids, a leading channel of original digital series for kids, starring kids, with 2.4 million subscribers and 1.7 billion views on YouTube. He also oversaw the launch of their premium subscription streaming service at NewSkyKids.com and the New Sky Kids mobile app. As executive producer, he developed shows such as Kid Ninja and Kids Kitchen: Real Recipes, serving as co-showrunner on those and others including their flagship superhero series High Top Princess.

Previously, Paul served as creative director for digital marketing agency AHD, where among other projects he produced the “Will Kitty Play With It?” web series for Purina Friskies and “the best cross-marketing campaign of all time” (according to EliteDaily) — putting Grumpy Cat on the Game of Thrones Iron Throne at SXSW.

He also was assistant to Oscar-winning filmmaker Guillermo del Toro, working in creative development on several projects, including Hellboy. Additionally, he’s worked with Oscar-nominated documentarian Frances Reid, Emmy-nominated producer Scott Carter, and on projects for Sony, New Line, Comedy Central, HBO, MTV, XM Satellite Radio, and many more.
