Elena Zaretsky
The edge in Elena’s writing comes from her Russian immigrant background, and is mitigated by her sunny
SoCal upbringing: kinda like Dostoyevsky on Molly. Her earliest memories include learning English from
reruns of classic TV shows like ‘Bewitched’ and ‘Happy Days’.
Elena received her undergrad degree from UC San Diego where she double-majored in Political Science
and Communications, and minored in Theatre. Her early acting career took her to the Big Apple where she
cemented her knowledge of story and character by studying at the William Esper Studio and by performing
off-off Broadway.
Upon her return to LA, Elena performed weekly as an improv actor, and simultaneously filmed several
sketches, which were hits online. As a fledgling screenwriter, Elena’s scripts were recognized in various
screenwriting contests and she was a two-time finalists for the Warner Bros Writing Workshop in 2012 and
2014.
In 2015, Elena went on to receive a Masters in Spiritual Psychology; a degree which compliments her work
to this day.
In 2017, Elena’s produced film Rocky Mountain Christmas was the highest rated film ever on the Hallmark
Movies and Mysteries channel, and her second Hallmark film will shoot in spring of 2022.
In 2020, Elena was both a FINALIST and SEMI-FINALIST at the Austin Film Festival for her
comedy feature, The Red Dahlia, and her comedy pilot, I’m Your Bio Mom. And her script, Social Medium is an AFF Second Rounder in 2021.
